Imagine this: you are attacked with a knife by a person who was just released from a mental institution. You run away and escape the attack. A witness tells police that she saw that you were the person who was attacked with the knife. But when police arrive, you are arrested for Attempted Assault in the First Degree instead of the person who attacked you. To make matters worse, the person who attacked is wanted for questioning by the same police prceicnt where you were arrested.
